But I can’t complain because for me 2011 has been the best year of my life next to 1996, which was the birth year of my son. There were so many beautiful Daily Inspirations posted in 2011 as well along with some really great guest posts. Time has been flying by and it seems like just it was just last week when I was writing about 2010  and the best posts of the year yet here I am now writing about 2011. Yep, 2011 will go down in my own history book as one hell of a year for me. Not only in photography, not only for this website, not only in overall total happiness and peace, but my personal (and love) life has been better than it ever has been as... Olympus VR-340: Affordable metal-bodied long-zoom nears market

The VR-340 is quite similar to the European-market  VR-360  alongside which it was announced, although that model has not so far been announced in the USA.The two cameras both share the same 16 megapixel image sensor and three-inch LCD panel, but with differing lenses, with the less expensive VR-340 providing a little less telephoto reach with a 10x optical zoom lens. The VR-360 also has a less modern 3D mode, which produces red/cyan anaglyph 3D files, instead of the files suitable for viewing on 3D-capable displays produced by its European sibling.

Two new mass market point-and-shoot digital cameras from Olympus

Olympus has revealed their plans to release at least two new point-and-shoot digital cameras for the mass market. The $149.99  Olympus VR-340 and $99.99  Olympus VG-160 are the names of the two newest point-and-shoot digital cameras from the Olympus company.

Both the VR-340 and VG-160 feature things that many non-pro photographers will be looking for in their new point-and-shoot camera this year.

The two Olympus cameras have high resolution CCD sensors capable of producing 16MP (VR-340) or 14MP (VG-160) resolution images. Each cameras lens offers adequate amounts of zoom for either cameras size, the larger VR-340 offers 10x optical zoom and the smaller VG-160 offers 5x optical zoom. The two also come with 720p High-Definition video recording capabilities out-of-box. Olympus has bundled in Autofocus, image stabilization, in-camera Magic Art Filters for adding some flare to images, and Intelligent Auto (iAuto) which can pick from 29 preset capture modes automatically on each of these cameras.
