Spare yourself some anguish. Skip this deal as the person is trying to sell you a cheap no-name lense that probably won't work with the D3100.

You are off your nut if you buy anything used sight unseen. You don't actually believe this person you've never met do you? If you want to make a big mistake and lose the $500 go ahead and send the money.
