I am wanting to format my SD in my Nikon D300s camera so I can update the firmware A & B 1:00 to A & B 1.

It's obvious Adam doesn't have a clue about memory cards. Never, ever format in your computer. This can destroy the card... it's meant to be formatted only in a camera.

Have you got a second card? If so try it and see what happens.
